ISSMA CHOIR CONFLICT FORM

Hello Choir Parents, we are headed for the ISSMA Choir competition on Saturday, March 16th.  This is a mandatory concert on your list of events for 2024.  This year it will be held at Penn High School and the 7-8 Band will be attending as well. Times have not been announced yet, but we expect to see them soon.  A Parent letter with all of the details will be going home next week.  This call is to remind you that all conflict forms should be turned in by this Friday.  That will give us a chance to make sure that our choirs will be balanced for this competition.  Forms are available here on the choir website (under parent form tab) or in the choir classroom.  This will be a very exciting event for us all as we compete with all of the local choirs in hopes of bringing home Gold from all 3 judges.

We will also need ISSMA Bus Chaperones for this event. You would arrive 10 minutes before buses arrive and ride the bus over to the high school. Then you get to follow us through the warm-ups and the performance. You will mark attendance and then drive back to NMS on the bus. Please go to the signup genius tab if you are able to help us out with this! We need at east 3 chaperones per grade.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mrs. Armington or Mr. Norwood.  Thank you.

This weekend we had 27 students from choir go to the ISSMA solo and ensemble contest at Fairfield high school. The Raiders swept a lot of gold and brought home 10 Perfect scores. The names of the students are Madeline Eash, Maya, Khattri Chettri, Peyton Lint, Marcos, Rangel, Phinn, Khamsourivong, Levi Byers, Maddie Rink, Maddie, McKim, Addison Gunter, Audrey Deisinger. Congratulations to all of these students who have worked so hard and represented the Northridge middle school Raiders so well.

Food Donations for the kid’s dinner

As you are beginning to buy tickets this week you might want to include your food donations 😞. We will need $1000 to pay for a meal for all of our kids. Any contribution will be appreciated! Again, tickets are $3 and are purchased in choir class or at the door. We often sell out at least one show so we suggest getting your tickets in advance. Thanks again!

on another topic the kids are wearing their black and whites for the concert. They may bring in Santa hats. Lights, antlers, or garland to throw on for the finale but it isn’t necessary.

Choir info

Just me with a few reminders. Tomorrow is tech rehearsal. Pick up your child at 5:45 please. Door 15.

Thursday is dress rehearsal. Again we will all be done at 5:45 p.m. Door 1 7th grade, Door 15 6th grade, and Door 21 for 8th grade.

We are at the point of begging for volunteers. We need ushers: you’re going to be there anyway so usher! You can save your seat before the auditorium opens.

We need chaperones. The kids are loud but most of them are very respectful. We just need adult supervision to keep them settled down until they get out on stage. All of them will be out on stage for the last half of the show. You can slip into the auditorium at that point. Easy Peasy.

Tickets are on sale now. Students purchase them during class. Don’t forget that chaperones, locker decoration people, and photographers get 2 free tickets. Tell your child what time you need your tickets for. 4:30 or 7:00 p.m.

Dinner crew is a bit scary. We just need adults to surround the cafeteria at 5:30 and make sure students do not leave their seat. If they are messy they get to clean all of the tables. 🙂

Finally we only have 1 signed up for tear down crew. We have a lot of costumes and decorations to pack up after the show. Please lend a hand.

Thanks again!
