Parents if you could help your child select the best t shirt size that would be very helpful!  Here are the sizing guides to help you!  Thank you!  Just let your child know by Tuesday so that they can order the shirt that will first them best!

The Northridge Middle School Choirs had an exciting weekend at ISSMA Choir Contest. Each choir did an outstanding job as they performed for standing room only crowds! The three judges were impressed with their performance and gave each choir three first place markings. Our 6th grade choir and our 7th grade choir each walked away with the “With Distinction Award”. This award is only awarded to the highest of scores. All three groups were given beautiful golden plaques to be hung in the Music Hall of Fame at NMS. Mr. Norwood and Mrs.Armington could not be more proud of the level of professionalism and musicianship these choirs demonstrated on Saturday. Congratulations everyone!

Well we are just days away from ISSMA 2019.  The kids have been working like Trojans at their pieces and things are falling together nicely.  Wednesday we will be singing for guest judges for a “practice run” of Saturday’s performance.  The kids have been asked to dress up for this performance.   They do not need to wear their “Black -n-Whites” unless they want to.   *No jeans, sweatshirts, t shirts, etc. please.

I’ve attached a copy of the parent letter we sent home a few weeks ago in case you could use a copy.  –>Choir ISSMA Letter 2019  Please remember that if you would like to take your child home from GMS you will need to give them a chaperone note stating that you are stealing your child 🙂

ISSMA results will be posted by 6 p.m. on Saturday!  We will blog and facebook them out to ya’ll.

If you are coming to watch your child perform at GMS Saturday, please come a bit early.  The performances take place in the cafeteria and space is limited for seating.  They also close the doors during all performances and will lock you out if you are bit late.  😦

Following the performance we will meet everyone back in the GMS Gym for check out and then release the students to either the buses or to their parents.

Thank you for the really cool locker decorations:  Mrs. Hickman, Mrs. Zook, Mrs. Schrock, Mrs. Stone, Mrs. Hunt, and Mrs. Dorbin.  The kids went “nuts”!

If you are sending in water or treats for Monday’s celebration, please drop them off Monday morning so that we can prepare them for the classes.

8th grade chaperones are now all covered.  Thanks!

ISSMA is a week away and we do not have enough bus chaperones to get kids from NMS to GMS.  Please consider helping out.   Either email me or sign up on sign up genius.  We need 1 for 7th grade, and 2 chaperones for 8th grade.  6th grade is covered!  Thanks parents!

*We also have no photographers for 7th or 8th so if you want pictures you will need to take them yourself I guess ;(

*8th has no one making locker decorations for either class, and 7th mixed choir has no one doing locker decorations.

Just a few reminders of the dates coming our way:  Please remember that ISSMA Choir Contest (Goshen Middle School) will be taking place in 3 weeks.  Saturday March 16 buses will be picking up the choirs here at NMS and bringing them over to Goshen Middle School to perform for the judges.  This is a mandatory performance for this 9 weeks.   Times and other details will be announced next week when we receive them from the ISSMA State office.

There is a chaperone shortage for ISSMA buses.  If you are going to watch your child anyway, please consider helping out by traveling on the bus over to Goshen Middle School and back to NMS.  Please fill the slots left in Sign Up Genius.

The Choir Beasts have definitely been coming out of the wood work as we are gearing up for ISSMA Contest!  These kids have been fantastic leaders in their sections and have been so helpful in their choir classes!  Great job kids!
