Dear Choir Parents, September 20, 2016
Our kids are really doing an outstanding job in choir this year. We would really like to spend some time with them outside of the choir class setting so that we can get to know their zany side and they can get to know that we have a sane side. J It is often hard to get to know kids when you face 70 – 100 in each class. So, we have come up with a few activities that would be an award for their great work, and also a chance for us to have time with them out of class.
The following activities are now on the official Choral calendar. They are only for choir students, and only for students who are receiving an A or B in choir class at the end of the 9 weeks. Students who are causing discipline issues in choir may be excused from their FUN NIGHT if we do not see improvement right away! This is definitely not a mandatory date. Only students who want to come should attend!
6th Graders will be having a “GLOW-IN” Skate at Eby Pines Roller Rink on Tuesday, October 11th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The cost is $3 per person skating, to help cover the expense of renting the roller rink. Skates will be free. We will be skating in black light, so students may want to wear neon or white that evening. Mr. Norwood and I will be hosting this event, but parents are welcome to join us. We do ask that only choir students skate that night. If you need to bring little ones with you, we would prefer that they do not skate. Parents are welcome to skate! The concession stand will be open. Students may want to bring money in for a snack or pop. We will also sell some glow stick jewelry in class on Monday and Tuesday that week in case students want to put some “BLING” on! Parents should pick their child up at 7:30 p.m.
7th Graders will be having a pizza n- movie party on Thursday, October 13th after school from 3:45 – 6:30 p.m. The cost is $3 to help cover the expense of the pizza, movie, and games. Our choir kids will be partying with us after school, playing a few nutty games, having dinner, and watching a movie. The movie is being voted on by our kids, but we will send the title out as soon as it is selected. Parents may send in cookies or brownies for the kids’ dessert. We have about 150 kids and expect around 100 or so. Your help would be appreciated!

Graders will be having a “lock – in” here at NMS on Friday, October 28. This would run Friday night from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The girls are interested in spending the night…yes the whole night….in the school. Obviously the boys would have to go home by 10 p.m. If I (Mrs. A) commit to spending an entire night with my girls, I have to have help. I will need 5 moms to work with me. We have a ton of activities planned and some very sweet girls to work with, so it will be a fun and memorable night, but I just can’t do this one on my own. So, if you are willing to volunteer please send me an email by August 31st. If we don’t have volunteers (which I will totally understand) we will go to plan B. Plan B will be 7 – 10 p.m. with boys and girls together. (Cost is $3 for 7 p.m. – 10 p.m., Cost is $5 for 7 p.m. – 8 a.m.)
Sincerely,
Mrs. Armington and Mr. Norwood……
I would LOVE to help with the sleepover!!!
Cheers! Becky Fogle
