Parent Info coming home!

Below you will find an invitation to our only Parent meeting! We ask that one parent from each choir home come to this meeting. We will be giving details about everything we have planned and how you can help. Please read below for the parent letter.

We also would like to let you know of an opportunity for your child. Goshen College will be having auditions for a choir called Shout For Joy. Students may audition for this distinguished choir from 7 – 8:15 on Monday Aug 14 and Monday Aug 21. Their performances will take place in the Goshen College GOREGEOUS Sauder Hall under the direction of Sandra Hill. Rehearsals will be Mondays from 7 – 8:15 in the Music Building.

Finally I’m sure you noticed that I accidently put the calendar on the back of the paper you were to turn in! So, I’m sending home a yellow form with all of the dates for this year. I apologize for my ditzy mistake!!

Here is a copy in case you just want to print one out!

Welcome to NMS Choir!

Parents and students you will find a lot of information on the nmschoir.org website! Please click “FOLLOW” found in the right column on this page. When you click FOLLOW that means that you will receive all of our parent notes directly in your email box! No more digging in the back pack to find your copy!!

Also on this page you will find a tab labeled SIGNUP GENIUS. This is where we go to post volunteer positions each year. We ask that you volunteer in at least one or two areas for each concert. The sooner you do this the more choices you will have!

The LOCKER DECORATIONS TAB shows examples and shares info regarding making locker decorations for your child’s class.

We also post PRACTICE RECORDINGS AND CHOREOGRAPHY VIDEOS for our students.

Finally you will find parent info under the PARENT INFO tab.

Attached you will find a copy of the first parent letter we sent home on Wednesday. Please review it and then turn in the pages that have stars drawn for your signatures BY THIS COMING FRIDAY! The stars are only printed on the copies we sent home.

One final note is regarding our Resident Voice Teacher Mrs. Mary Norwood. She teaches voice lessons during choir class and after school. Students receive one on one attention and training for their voices. Parents often prefer to have lessons during school to avoid another taxi trip. She has slots available in every class but they fill up quickly. Here is her contact information in case you are interested!

Summer Festival

We are looking forward to working together at the Summer Festival THIS weekend.  Again, thanks to everyone who has signed up!

We still have 21 slots to fill, with the biggest needs being Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.  Please consider picking up some of these shifts to help make this fundraiser a success.  Remember, these events are what provide the funds that allow us to keep our fees low and the program successful.

Our booth is with the other food vendors in Memorial Park, downtown Middlebury.  I have not been told exactly where our booth will be, but it’s typically to the south side of the park, adjoining Jerry’s Standard Services.  We will have a 10′ by 20′ tan canopy and black Northridge Choir table covers.
8th grade students can pair up and work a slot or two as well, but we are hoping our Choir Parents will step in and volunteer.
Thanks for lending a hand!! Mrs. Armington.

Last Minute Reminders…

Tickets ($3) will be available at the door.

First come first serve seating. Doors open 45 minutes before each show.

You may be snagged to usher…or you could volunteer before a show!!

Chaperones meet with Mrs. A in NHS choir room at 3:30 and 6:15 before each show.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING DINNER RUN SMOOTHLY!!!

H. E. L. P.

As of today we have 3 moms serving as dress rehearsal chaperones. We normally have 12 to cover 270 kids. If you can step in and help tomorrow please come at 2:45 to the NMS choir room for a short meeting. This is a very simple job. You pass out treats and water, take attendance, and oversee the kids. They leave at 5:45 and you would be done by or before 6:15. Please help us out. It is very scary to be on stage directing with only 3 parents watching kids in the cafeteria. Thanks in advance.

Emergency Help Needed for Dress Reh and Concert

Please read all of this: We have very few sign ups for Dress Rehearsal and the Concert. I’m not sure what happened. But we need parents to step in now and lend a hand to pull this weekend off! 8th grade parents may need to sit with their kids this show if we don’t get a few chaperones. One of the scariest empty volunteer positions is for the Dinner Crew. We simply can’t feed, oversee, and cleanup after 270 students ourselves. This is a simple job that requires serving dinner and then walking throughout the cafeteria to make sure students remain seated and well behaved. There will be a 6th grade crew of boys assisting in clean up afterwards.

Here are our current needs per grade:

T shirt money and Dinner donations are due.

Right now only 60% of you have turned in the $10 t shirt money. Please pay that as soon as possible. Shirts arrive next Tuesday and we need all of the money turned in by then. We also have to pay for the sub dinners next week. We are about half way there. Every donation helps. Thanks in advance for your generosity. Mrs. A

Reminders!

Just a reminder to please go to signup genius tab on this page and volunteer for a position to help with the Final Blast. We are asking one parent from each home to sign up to lend a hand. Many of the positions can be done from home or on the day of the concert. We know you have busy lives but we need you to help us with the last concert of the year. Try to sign up today or in the next few days so that you will get the position(s) you want. Thanks!

Also do not forget that we need the $10 for t shirts as soon as you can send that in. We just ordered them. They cost $13.50 per shirt but we will cover the extra $3.50 for each studet.

Finally please see if you can send in something for your child’s dinner or the dinners of a few children. We need to raise around $1000 to feed them all.

This year’s Final Blast will be featuring Motown! See how many of these you know already!
