ISSMA HELP NEEDED!

Choir Parents we could use your help next weekend.  If you are already planning on attending the ISSMA performance, would you please consider riding the bus with our kids as a chaperone?  We need 2-3 more chaperones for grades 7 and 8.  It is a very simple chaperone job.  You would just need to mark students’ attendance as they board their bus,  ride over to Goshen Middle School with them and we will take it from there.  Prior to the performance our ISSMA Chaperones also get to see the “behind the scenes” things our choirs do before they perform for the judges.  You will get a chance to watch them warm up and sing for their judges.  Then after the performance we would again need you to take their attendance as they board buses and join them for their ride back to NMS.  Once you arrive back at the school we would need you to make sure that each student gets into their parent’s hands safely and then you’re done!  If you could lend a hand, would you please email Mrs. Armington asap?  We would greatly appreciate it! Thanks so much!  armingtonj@mcsin-k12.orgimage

GOLD! GOLD! GOLD!

The 2018 ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest was a complete success for our NMS Choir Students.    What a weekend they had.  Every student who took a Vocal or Piano Solo brought home a gold!  Our 8th grade Ensemble also “wowed” the judges with their performance of Windy Nights.  The ensemble itself brought home 13 golds for NMS.  This was also a record breaking year for us because 7 of our students earned PERFECT SCORES!  All of our kids were able to pick up their medal on Saturday and collect their judges comments today in class.  Mama A couldn’t be prouder!  Here are some nice pics from Saturday’s 24 Carat performances!

Keeping you in the “loop” with the exciting events going on!

Wizard-of-Oz-RSC-and-MUNI1-541x346 (1)

Choir Parents there are some very fun shows coming up that we wanted to mention to you.  You and your kids would love all of these!  First we’d like to invite you to attend the NHS musical the Wizard of Oz which will be presented on Saturday, February 3 at 7:00 and Sunday, February 4 at 2:00 in the high school auditorium. Tickets are on sale in the front office of the high school for $10 each and will be available at the door also.   This will be a show for all ages!

Also this weekend (February 3) will be the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble Contest held at Fairfield High School from 8:30 – 3:30 p.m.  Middle School and High School students from all of our area schools will converge at one time to sing and play for guest judges.  The entertainment is free, and the concession cookies are pretty spectacular too.  🙂  Come for as long as you like!  There will be Barbershop Quartets, Large and Small Ensembles, and Piano and Vocal solos at every age and level of expertise.  It is fun hearing how voices and talent grow from the youngest to the oldest.

February 17th will be the Northridge High School Show Choir Invitational.  Show Choirs from across the Midwest will be gathering to compete.  The first round of competition runs from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.   Finals begin around 6 p.m. and run until approximately 11 p.m.  Students and parents will see amazing shows that feature sets, costumes, exciting choreography, and great vocal performances.   Concessions and meals will be available throughout the competition.  Tickets may be purchased at the door.  Please check with NHS for the prices because they vary.

February, 24th Circle The State With Song will feature about 150 Middle School singers who were hand selected by their choir teachers to perform in a beautiful concert held in the gorgeous Goshen College Sauder Hall.  Doors open at 3:45 p.m. and the show will begin at 4:30 p.m.  Tickets will be $4 at the door.

Hope to see you soon!  Mrs. A

Choir Beast alert!

These BEASTS have been amazing leaders in class.   Each day they are coming prepared to sing their hearts out!  They lead their section as they wander through the treacherous territory in the sight reading jungle, and aren’t afraid to swing out to help their class mates!  Great job CB’s!  Keep up the great work.
