During our performance at Issma this weekend one of the three judges gave verbal comments for each of our Choirs. EXTRAORDINARY!

Today was a very exciting day for the Northridge Middle School Choirs! Each choir was challenged at the beginning of the semester to be EXTRAORDINARY. We talked quite a bit about what it takes to be extraordinary. Our kids learned that pushing for that level of success isn’t always easy. They pushed through hard and tedious practices, discouragement, and the hills and valleys that come when one aims high.

But Mr. Norwood and I are very happy to announce the following results:
Grade 6 Judge 1 GOLD Judge 2 GOLD Judge 3 GOLD!!!
Grade 7 Judge 1 GOLD Judge 2 GOLD Judge 3 GOLD!!!
Grade 8 Judge 1 GOLD Judge 2 GOLD Judge 3 GOLD!!!
All of the scores and comments were excellent, but one grade took their winning to an even higher level. Our 8th grade class received the “With Distinction” Award from the ISSMA Organization!!! To receive this achievement a choir must score extremely high. Only the top Choirs in the state are given this honor. We are very proud to bring this award back to NORTHRIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL!
Congratulations to all of our Choirs! You were EXTRAORDINARY and used teamwork to put you at the top where you belong!!
Sincerely, a VERY PROUD MAMA ARMINGTON
and her partner in crime, Mr. Norwood

Sometimes you just have to know that it’s time to ask for some help!

Parents we have been waiting for volunteer positions to be filled as we draw near to performances but we are now two weeks away from ISSMA Contest and are still short in the following areas:
Bus Chaperones – You travel along with the kids from NMS to GMS and take attendance on the buses. We need 5 more for 6th grade choir, 3 more for 7th grade choir, and 2 more for 8th grade choir.
Photographer– Someone to take pictures for the 8th grade ISSMA performance.
Locker Decorations – Make decorations for choir student’s locker to pep them up for contest week. We have no one for 7th grade period 1. We have no one for 8th grade period 6 or period 7.
If you are able to cover one of the positions above would you please sign up in the slots available on signup genius? If you can’t use sign up genius feel free to send me an email or give me a call.
Thanks,
Mrs. Armington armingtonj@mcsin-k12.org (822-5186)

ISSMA Times are in!

Choir Parent Letter for February

Congratulations ISSMA Soloists and Ensemble!!!
Wow!! What a talented group of performers our students are! They really came prepared and ready to perform yesterday! They brought home 20 Gold medals for vocal solos (including a Gold Rating in Division I by Meredith Dorbin). Our 7th Grade Ensemble received a perfect score for their performance on the Fairfield stage and brought 19 more gold medals home! We couldn’t be more proud of the amazing job they all did! Here are a few pictures Mr. Norwood was able to snap throughout the day. Great job you fantastic choir beasts!!
(*Parents of ISSMA performers if you have any pictures that you want to send our way we would love to include them in the slideshow!)

ISSMA SOLO AND ENSEMBLE CONTEST!!!
Here are the solo and ensemble times for NMS Students and the “Need to Know” info for our moms and dads!

50%….hmmm?

The parent letter we sent home on Wednesday was due on Friday. We requested a parent signature on this one because we need to make sure that every choir parent is aware of the mandatory dates for this semester. We also need to fill the volunteer needs for this semester. As of Friday, we only have 50% of these letters returned. That is 200 students out of 400 hundred students. That is not good, and makes the paperwork and planning a nightmare.
If you haven’t sent your signed copy in to us would you please (pretty pleeeze) send it in on Monday? That would be very helpful to us as we continue to plan great things for your great kids! Sincerely, Mrs. Armington
Two reminders…
DVD orders are due by 3:00 tomorrow. ($18)
Signed parent letter 1/4/17 is due tomorrow. If you didn’t get your copy you will find the document on the last post!

Parent Letter for Semester II- 2nd try
Below is a copy of the parent letter that will be handed out tomorrow in class. We are asking for each parent to sign and return this so that we know we have reached every home. In case it doesn’t make it to your doorstep…wah-la! Here it is just for you!
