SwingFry Ticket Orders…

Advanced Ticket Orders for SwingFry 2016 are due in a few weeks.  Why should you order them in advance?  a.) There are 3000+ people coming, and the lines are long!  b.  It helps us know how much fish and chicken to order.

Here is an extra copy of the order form if you need one!  Click:  sfadvance-ticket-form-2016    Please make these checks payable to MMPA.  Send them in with your child and we will get your orders filled.  Within a week or two your child will receive a sealed envelope with your tickets and wrist bands enclosed.  Please remember this is our one and only fundraiser!   Invite your friends, relatives, neighbors, and push this at work o.k.?  The dinner is great, and the entertainment is to die for!

Fun Nights…or sleepless nights?

Dear Choir Parents,                                                                                                   September 20, 2016

Our kids are really doing an outstanding job in choir this year.  We would really like to spend some time with them outside of the choir class setting so that we can get to know their zany side and they can get to know that we have a sane side.  J  It is often hard to get to know kids when you face 70 – 100 in each class.  So, we have come up with a few activities that would be an award for their great work, and also a chance for us to have time with them out of class.

The following activities are now on the official Choral calendar.  They are only for choir students, and only for students who are receiving an A or B in choir class at the end of the 9 weeks.  Students who are causing discipline issues in choir may be excused from their FUN NIGHT if we do not see improvement right away!  This is definitely not a mandatory date.  Only students who want to come should attend!

6th Graders will be having a “GLOW-IN” Skate at Eby Pines Roller Rink on Tuesday, October 11th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  The cost is $3 per person skating, to help cover the expense of renting the roller rink.  Skates will be free.  We will be skating in black light, so students may want to wear neon or white that evening.  Mr. Norwood and I will be hosting this event, but parents are welcome to join us.  We do ask that only choir students skate that night.  If you need to bring little ones with you, we would prefer that they do not skate.  Parents are welcome to skate!  The concession stand will be open.  Students may want to bring money in for a snack or pop.  We will also sell some glow stick jewelry in class on Monday and Tuesday that week in case students want to put some “BLING” on!   Parents should pick their child up at 7:30 p.m.

pizza

7th Graders will be having a pizza n- movie party on Thursday, October 13th after school from 3:45 – 6:30 p.m.  The cost is $3 to help cover the expense of the pizza, movie, and games.  Our choir kids will be partying with us after school, playing a few nutty games, having dinner, and watching a movie.  The movie is being voted on by our kids, but we will send the title out as soon as it is selected.  Parents may send in cookies or brownies for the kids’ dessert.   We have about 150 kids and expect around 100 or so.  Your help would be appreciated!

Graders will be having a “lock – in” here at NMS on Friday, October 28.  This would run Friday night from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. Saturday morning.   The girls are interested in spending the night…yes the whole night….in the school.   Obviously the boys would have to go home by 10 p.m.  If I (Mrs. A) commit to spending an entire night with my girls, I have to have help.  I will need 5 moms to work with me.  We have a ton of activities planned and some very sweet girls to work with, so it will be a fun and memorable night, but I just can’t do this one on my own. So, if you are willing to volunteer please send me an email by August 31st.   If we don’t have volunteers (which I will totally understand) we will go to plan B.  Plan B will be 7 – 10 p.m.  with boys and girls together. (Cost is $3 for 7 p.m. – 10 p.m., Cost is $5 for 7 p.m. – 8 a.m.)

Sincerely,

Mrs. Armington and Mr. Norwood……

A few “notes” of interest…

At the Music Parents meeting Tuesday a few tidbits were discussed that I wanted to pass on to our choir parents.

First:

Support our Northridge High School Choral Program! On Saturday, 9-17-16, the Middlebury Music Parent Association is organizing an garage sales being held in the cafeteria of the high school. It will be from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm. Enter on the south east side of the building at door 15. All proceeds will go to benefit the choral program at the high school. There will also be pork burgers for sale in the parking lot.

Also, if you have been meaning to clean out your basement or closets, we are also accepting donations for the garage sale. Donations can be dropped off at the high school entering at door 15 on Friday, 9-16-16 5:00-8:00 p.m.

Second:  If you haven’t signed up to volunteer yet for the Swing Fry Fundraiser and Concert day, they let us know that if you volunteer to usher that day, you will definitely get to see your child perform, as well as a lot of other fantastic groups.  Go to the signup genius tab at the top of this page, click and then click on the fishy to sign up!
Finally, if you have a son in choir this year, please check your family calendar for October 17th.  The Just The Guys concert is that Monday night and we would love every young man to be a part of this amazing show.  If you have a conflict, ask your son to turn in a conflict form by next Thursday (September 29th) so that they can receive the excused absence, and the make up essay assignment.
Enjoy your weekend!  Sincerely, Mrs. A

SwingFry Performance Times

Dear Choir Parents,                                                                                                       September 6, 2016

Many of you are signing up for the SwingFry volunteer positions.  THANK YOU!  We want to remind you of a few things to remember as you sign up for a time slot.  First, make sure you don’t sign up to help when your child is scheduled to sing.  Below is the list of performance times for that day.  (Please notice that the boys will sing a second time during the “Just the Guys” set at 4:40 p.m.)

Secondly, it is important for our Middle School Choir parents to cover the later shifts so that the high school parents can see their kids perform.

Finally, don’t forget to use Signup Genius to sign up for your slot.  It is easy!  Click on the Signup Genius Tab right here on this website, scroll down until you find the Fishy and click!  Then before your very eyes you will see all of the choices, times, and locations volunteers are needed.  Reminders and need to know information will come directly to your inbox!

Thanks again, for helping support our choirs.  Sincerely, Mrs. Armington…no pictures this time!! 🙂

Choir Fees are due Wednesday, 8/31

This is just a reminder to all choir parents that the $25 Choir Fee and green form are due this Wednesday.    Many parents have already turned in the green form with the $25 dollar choir fee to cover their child’s music, etc. for the year.  But if you haven’t, we’ve attached a copy of the choir fee form so that you can print it out and send it in.   You may mark your need for additional time to raise the funds, or enclose your payment of $25 in cash or checks payable to NMS.  Here is a copy of the green form in case you would like a new one.   Thanks for taking care of this obligation as soon as you can.  Sincerely, Mrs. Armington

*All choir parents should complete this form and return it by Tuesday, August 30.  If you are unable to pay the choir fee by August 30th please complete the first section listed below and submit this form in place of your fee.

We apologize….

I am hoping you didn’t see the fine print in the last post….I was trying to be funny with a picture of a cute little bird on a scared girls head.  I never learn.  I didn’t see the little writing at the bottom of the picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I am so embarrassed!    Either you are laughing at me right now… or mortified.  Chalk this one up to negligent proof reading.  Mrs. Aimages2

you are scaring us….

scary-birdParents!  Those empty volunteer positions we listed below are still empty.  Yikes.  We can’t do concerts without chaperones!  If you haven’t signed up to help out or have time to give in one of the areas that are open, pleeeeeeeeeeeeze sign up!   Thank you!  P.S. if the 7th grade parents don’t come through, we could always enlist the help of 6th or 8th grade parents.  Help where you can.

Sincerely, Mrs. A (That’s Mr. Norwood in the picture!  He screams like a girl when he stresses out.)

Parent Volunteer Lists have been updated!

NMS CHOIR BEASTS UNITE

Well you’ve outdone yourselves!  What a great turn out we have had for parent volunteers this year!!  About half of you signed up using Signup Genius.  The other half turned in their blue forms after circling the areas they would like to help out.  This weekend we put in those requests according to what you have circled.  Those of you with email should have received a notice stating that Mrs. A has added your request to the Parent Volunteer List.

We suggest that you double check our work.  Out of the hundreds we entered we are sure to have overlooked duplicating people, making a few typos, and as the blur of midnight came upon us….who knows where you ended up.  Just kidding.  We did our best, but we really don’t want to put you in an incorrect spot.  Just let us know and we can make changes!

Many of you volunteered to help send in funds for the Christmas Dinner or Treats.  You have been added as well.  We have a few more to add to that list but we should be done with that shortly.  Thank you for your generosity.  The kids LOVE THEIR SUBWAY DINNER!

If you can’t find your name anywhere it is because we had no spot for you at this time.  If you look below you will find the areas that are still needing volunteers.  Please go to signupgenius and fill the slots that are calling your name.

Here is a synopsis of what we’ve accomplished so far:

6th Grade Parent Volunteers ARE IN THE LEAD!!!  They had 111 slots to fill.  1o0 are filled at this time! (90.09%) Wahoooooo!  These are available:

3 Men’s Tear Down Crew 12/15

2 Ladies Tear Down Crew 12/15

2 Ushers 12/15 for Show 1 and 2 Ushers 12/15 for Show 2

7th Grade parents….are picking up steam…but just not quite where we need you to be.

They had 121 slots to fill, 87 are filled, 34 crucial spots are still open.

We need the following:

4 Dress Rehearsal Chaperones for 11/3

4 Dress Rehearsal Chaperones for 12/14

2 Men for Tear down crew 12/15

2 Ladies for Tear down 12/15

3 Concert 1 Chaperones (yikes) and 2 Concert 2 Chaperones for 12/15

1 Concert 1 Usher and 1 Concert 2 Usher

4 Dinner Crew 12/15

8th Grade Parents are in 2nd place but you know how important these slots are….get’r’done!  You had 111 slots, 83 are filled, 28 remain.

We need:

Photographers!!  10/17, 11/5, 12/15 Concert 1 and 12/15 Concert 2

10/17 Just the Guys Chaperone – 1

12/14 Dress Rehearsal Chaperones – 3

12/15 Men’s tear down crew – 3

12/15 Women’s tear down – 2

12/15 Concert 1 Chaperone – 3 (come on people, don’t leave me hangin’ here!!  yikes)

Thank you everyone!  We will be discussing these jobs, and much more in tomorrow night’s meeting.  Remember:  Tuesday, Green Carpet Gala, Choir Parent Meeting will take place at NHS  (NOT NMS) in the big auditorium!  Meeting will run 7-8 p.m.  Please come if you can.  Sincerely, Mrs. A and Mr. N
